News of Charlie Murphy's passing were met with shock Wednesday. Many hip hop artists as well as comedians took to social media to say farewell to a comedian who tapped into African American culture through his skits on Chappelle's Show.
50 Cent, Questlove, Nas, Mike Epps, Key!, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Chris Rock, Russell Simmons and many others paid homage to the man who stepped out of his older brother Eddie Murphy's shadow. He will be remembered mostly for the "Hollywood True Stories" skit, where he told tall tales of partying with Prince and Rick James in the 80s. Even a sobered up Rick James was in on the joke.
Murphy died at 57 of leukemia. Check out what celebrities touched by his comedy had to say.
