Former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent earlier in the week, a contract which can be worth a lot more if he can keep his weight in check.
According to ESPN, Lacy's 1 year/$5.5 million deal with the Seahawks includes a $385,000 bonus if he can keep his weight under the 240 lbs range. The big fella is reportedly currently checking in at 265+.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told The John Clayton Show,
"I want him big. I want him big and tough and strong."
"But I want him in the best shape so that he can run at his best and be durable and handle the load -- 235, that's at the time he came out [of the draft], he was there.
"But he's developed. Into his [240s], he's really dangerous."
A little more than half of Lacy's $5.55 million deal is guaranteed, with the other half to be paid out in bonuses related to how often Lacy is active on game days, his total rushing yards, and his weight.
