The 103rd Rose Bowl was an instant classic.

Last night's Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, California was undoubtedly the best game of the Bowl Season thus far, a roller coaster ride that ultimately ended with USC on top of Penn State, 52-49.

USC's 19-year old QB Sam Darnold accumulated 473 yards of offense, snapping the previous Rose Bowl record of 467 which was set by Vince Young during the classic Rose Bowl game in 2006.

“I love the quiet confidence about him,” Helton said of his redshirt freshman quarterback. “You never saw his demeanor change tonight. Whether he was throwing a touchdown or whether we got stopped on offense, you just never saw his demeanor change.

“He was so glued in and so focused at the task at hand. It was just so fun as a coach tonight to watch so many great players on the field perform.”

"The Grandaddy Of Them All" was a roller coaster from start to finish as the Trojans jumped out to a 13-point lead before watching the Nittany Lions rattle off seven touchdowns on seven possessions, including on a trio of offensive plays to open the second half. At one point late in the fourth, Rose Bowl officials even wheeled out the Penn State championship gear and began cutting open the boxes in anticipation of their win.

However, Sam Darnold delivered his 5th touchdown strike of the game with 32 seconds left to tie things up, which was followed by an interception by USC safety Leon McQuay and a game-winning kick by Matt Boermeester in a stunning turn of events.

Here's how the instant classic played out on twitter.
