Donald Trump is reportedly considering former Mets and Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine to be the US ambassador to Japan.
According to WEEI Radio in Boston, Valentine, who also managed Japan’s champion Chiba Lotte Marines, is currently the athletic director at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut has already talked with Trump's transition team.
The report says Valentine has known both president-elect Trump and his brother since the early 1980s and he's still very popular in Japan which is why he's on the shortlist of potential candidates.
Additionally, Valentine has worked with Linda McMahon, who was recently asked by Trump to run the Small Business Association.
