Tiger plans to come back in October.

Tiger Woods has officially announced that he's returning to competitive golf, and that he'll be playing in the Safeway, formerly known as the Frys.com Open, on October 13-16 in Napa, California. This is great news for the sport, which is always more interesting when Tiger is playing, whether he's fist-pumping on the green or cursing up a storm after slicing a ball into the drink.

The 40-year old hasn't competed in a tournament in over a year, but will be looking to get back on track at the PGA Tour's first event of their 2016-17 season. Additionally, Tiger plans to play in the European Tour's Turkish Airlines Open in early November, and the Hero World Challenge in December, which is Woods' annual tournament to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation.

"I'm looking forward to going to California for my foundation event and Safeway. I'm also excited to return to Turkey and Albany (in the Bahamas). It could be a fun fall. It was difficult missing tournaments that are important to me, but this time I was smart about my recovery and didn't rush it.''

Before taking a hiatus Woods experienced the worst year of his professional career in 2015, missing the cut of three major championships, while battling issues with his swing and injuries.
