TLC plan to fund what they call their "final" album via a Kickstarter page.

Save for their greatest hits compilation 20, which was released in 2013, '90s R&B stars TLC haven't dropped an album since 2002's 3D, which came just seven months after the tragic death of member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Now, the duo of T-Boz and Chilli are planning their final album. They aim to get this yet-to-be-titled project funded via Kickstarter, as they posted a page aiming for a goal of $150,000 today.

Speaking to Page Six about the Kickstarter funding method, T-Boz said, "We’ve always been known to do things differently. We’ve always been trailblazers and trendsetters. We’ve always been outspoken, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.”

Chilli added, "People may say, ‘Hey, you are celebrities. Why can’t you just pay for it yourself? But it doesn’t work that way. There’s a lot that goes into it. We want to bring our fans into the process and see how it’s done.”

Throw some money TLC's way here.

[UPDATE: TLC Exceeds Their Kickstarter Goal]

On Monday, TLC initiated a Kickstarter campaign for what they called their "final" album, asking fans to support them instead of going the major label route. The fans heeded their call, and they've quickly surpassed their initial goal of $150,000.

The veteran r'n'b group had some pretty famous fans help them reach (and exceed) their goal, including Katy Perry, who reportedly donated $5,000, as well as New Kids On The Block, who donated $20,000. They're now sitting comfy, with more than $200,000 raised to create their final album.
