Weekly review of the Hip-Hop and R&B sales/charts.

This week we see a new entry in Chart's Dont Lie, with Tyler, the Creator's WOLF having dropped on April 2nd. The rapper is definitely expanding his fanbase, with this album impressively debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200. Tyler has been known for extreme and controversial lyrics, which may have made him less accessible to the general public in the past. Now it seems like the public is getting desensitized to the rambunctious rapper, or perhaps it's that the OF member is becoming more radio-friendly and mainstream-- what do you think? Whatever the case may be, it seems fans were pleased with WOLF. Find out how much Tyler, along with other chart-toppers this week, sold below.

Justin Timberlake— The 20/20 Experience: Justin Timberlake’s already-platinum album continues to hold on to the #1 spot on the charts. The singer sold another 134,365 copies of The 20/20 Experience this week.

Tyler, The CreatorWOLF: Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator’s third studio album performed as his best yet. The album almost doubled the sales of Goblin’s opening week. The Columbia Records release, WOLF, moved 89,895 copies in opening week. It debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, above Weezy F and below JT.

Lil Wayne— I Am Not A Human Being II: Lil Wayne’s second installment of IANAHB dropped a few spots from last week’s #2 to #5 this week. The YMCMB release still moved a good 61,514 albums off the shelves over the week.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis— The Heist: The Heist remains an independent force to be reckoned with. The album rose from last week, sitting at #12 this week, with around 28k copies of the release sold.

Rihanna— Unapologetic: Rih Rih’s Unapologetic continues to stay strong on the charts, moving another 19,194 units of the Def Jam release this week. The singer sits at the #20 spot.

Kendrick Lamar— good kid, m.A.A.d city: With all the focus on the TDE label currently on ScHoolboy Q’s upcoming Oxymoron album, K. Dot’s debut album seems to be the object of comparison for Q—Q has said he needs to put out something just as good, if not better, than Kendrick’s release. Well, Q has some big footsteps to fill, as Kendrick’s GKMC is still moving around 14k a week, landing at #28 this week, which is a rise from last week.

In single news this week, Chris Brown’s new single “Fine China” debuted on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week at #13. The #1 song on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs is, you can probably guess it, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop”—the duo also holds the #3 song on the chart, with “Can’t Hold Us.” Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” is still near the top though, with the #4 spot.
