Hip-hop inspired experimental producer Shlohmo first hit our radars when he put out a banging remix to Jeremih's "Fuck U All the Time". Jeremih loved the mix, and the two soon put out a collaborative EP, No More, one of our favorite projects of last year. The L.A. beatmaker is a solo artist first and foremost, though, and his latest album, Dark Red, is 11 instrumentals to get lost in no matter what genre you usually stick to.
We've heard "Emerge from Smoke" and "Buried", and the rest of the album promises more of the same moody, hypnotic soundscapes--though each track is a trip of its own. He also recently produced a track for Spooky Black, and Tory Lanez just announced a Shlohmo collab on his upcoming project, so look out for more Shlohmo in the hip-hop world.
