Shlohmo's latest album, Dark Red, was among the L.A. producer's darkest, most experimental material yet, and to cap off the year, he's put out an EP of Dark Red remixes, on which some top producers reorient his moody compositions toward a more club-focused sound. One such case is the remix of "Ten Days of Falling" from Baauer, who adds some frenetic drumwork and a haunting vocal sample to give the original an adrenaline-pumping energy.
There's a climactic breakdown a little over halfway in, before Bauuer laces the track with some screeching synths that make for an intense but oddly soothing finish. It's a track that's detailed enough for immersive headphone listening, but it will also be appreciated by adventurous 3 AM ravers.
