Rapper Huey, born Lawrence Franks, has been pronounced dead after being fatally shot. He was 31 years old.
The shooting took place in the Kinloch, St. Louis, at approximately 11 PM on June 25th. According to a report from FOX St. Louis, Huey was shot in front of a house on the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. Another man who police have yet to name was also shot, though he is expected to survive. At the time of the news breaking, no arrests had been made, though police are in the midst of conducting an investigation.

Huey first rose to prominence in 2006, when he released his breakout single "Pop, Lock & Drop It," a track that performed admirably on the Billboard charts. He released his debut album Notebook Paper the following year, which featured appearances from T-Pain, Lloyd, Yo Gotti, and more. Many of his fans, friends, and collaborators have since shared condolences and homages to the late rapper, a testament to the impact he made during his lifetime.
