Campaign Communications Director Tim Murtaugh released a statement before the rally confirming reports from the New York Times: "Per safety protocols, campaign staff are tested for COVID-19 before events. Six members of the advance team tested positive out of hundreds of tests performed, and quarantine procedures were immediately implemented. No COVID-positive staffers or anyone in immediate contact will be at today's rally or near attendees and elected officials. As previously announced, all rally attendees are given temperature checks before going through security, at which point they are given wristbands, facemasks and hand sanitizer."

The Tulsa rally was originally scheduled for June 19th; however, Trump postponed the event one day in honor of Juneteenth. Trump explained the decision on Twitter: "We had previously scheduled our #MAGA Rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for June 19th -- a big deal," he wrote. "Unfortunately, however, this would fall on the Juneteenth Holiday. Many of my African American friends and supporters have reached out to suggest that we consider changing the date out of respect for this Holiday, and in observance of this important occasion and all that it represents. I have therefore decided to move our rally to Saturday, June 20th, in order to honor their requests."
