Kobe Bryant is set to receive a posthumous award from the Emmys.

Kobe Bryant's legacy extended well past just the basketball court. Of course, Bryant had numerous philanthropic efforts and had even begun proving himself as a storyteller in both film and literature. Unfortunately, Bryant was taken from us way too soon. However, his legacy still lives on and now, he is about to receive a pretty massive posthumous award.

According to Carly Mallenbaum of USA Today, Bryant will receive the Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors award. He was nominated for the award by Spectrum SportsNet and thanks to his numerous efforts off the court, he was able to win. Recently, the Lakers took to Twitter where the congratulated Kobe for this big milestone.

Per USA TODAY:

"The award is meant to celebrate an individual or company’s outstanding contribution to Los Angeles, and visionary achievement in art, sciences or television. Bryant, who was nominated for the posthumous honor by Spectrum SportsNet, is receiving the award for both his storied athletic career and philanthropic work."

Bryant's legacy continues to grow and we're sure this award is only the beginning of what is to come over the next few years. Many have been inspired by Bryant's career and over the next few years, we will certainly see his efforts manifest into something huge.
