The first LeBron James mural that popped up in Los Angeles after he officially signed with the Lakers didn't last very long, as disgruntled Kobe Bryant fans vandalized the piece several times until the muralist, Jonas Never, just decided to repaint the wall white.
According to ESPN, Never has plans to do another mural, featuring several current members of the Los Angeles Lakers for Spectrum SportsNet, the network that televises the Lakers.
"I thought I had learned a long time ago to never touch religion or politics," said Never.
"I guess it is never touch religion, politics or anyone against Kobe," Never cracked.
"I can't see anyone getting mad about the whole team," Never said of his next Lakers mural. "[Kyle] Kuzma, LeBron, Lance Stephenson blowing on LeBron."
While we wait to see what that mural will look like, another piece of artwork featuring LeBron James and several Lakers legends has surfaced on Melrose Avenue and it should be well received by all Lakers fans - even the stubborn Kobe stans. The painting depicts LeBron wearing his #23 Lakers jersey looking up at Lakers champions such as Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.
The man behind the art is reportedly Venice-based muralist Gustavo Zermeno Jr., who has done a number of different murals all over Cali, including several in honor of Kobe Bryant. Check out some of his work here, and peep the latest LeBron x Lakers mural in the posts embedded below.
