Given our current state of emergency, it's only appropriate for Lil Tjay to come through with some vibes specifically catered to our circumstances. The Bronx rapper happens to reside in one of the biggest COVID-19 hotspots too. Nonetheless, he hasn't let that deter him from recording and releasing music, with this new 7-song EP arriving today, the first release since his debut album True 2 Myself in October of last year.
The EP is stacked with appearances from Tjay's fellow New Yorkers, keeping it the NY state of mind fully intact. Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign appear jointly on "Zoo York," but Fivio's appearances keep on rolling with "Shoot for the Stars." Tjay is known for his melodic approach, but the record merges that distinct style with Fivio's own vein of New York drill, creating a hard-hitting collab.
Other New York artists who appear on State of Emergency include Jay Critch, Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow, J.I the Prince of N.Y and Jay Gwuapo-- every song has a feature apart from the intro, "Ice Cold." Check out the EP here.
Quotable Lyrics
All the fame I done found
They gon' talk behind your back
In your face they don't never make a sound
All this money I can count
Old bitches comin' back around
