Nav has been described by some as hip-hop's "most non-essential character" but for some reason, he keeps on piling up streams on his projects. When he retired from music last year, nobody really batted an eyelash about it, going on with their days as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Though it's beloved by some of his fans, Bad Habits is not an amazing piece of art. Nav is well-suited as a meme and considering how novel his low-energy bars seem at times, memes may just be his lane. He first found meme fame when his verse on Travis Scott's "Yosemite" was mixed at a different level than La Flame and Gunna. Now, his new interview with Pitchfork is being memed for something the Toronto rapper never even actually said.
If you read through Nav's latest profile piece, you will see no remarks about being allergic to pretzels and eating them only to impress the likes of Drake and The Weeknd. However, somebody went along and edited the text to read exactly that and the post is going viral. As reported by RapCurrent, Nav is being trolled online for comments that he did not make during his latest interview about pretzels. The post was written to fake an apparent pretzel allergy with Nav being jealous of his peers who can eat the salted treat. "Drake always offers me, and what am I supposed to do? I'm not gonna deny a pretzel from Drake. So I eat the shit, and ten minutes later, I tell them I gotta go home. But in reality, I'm not going home. I'm going to the ER to get my stomach pumped," says Nav in the transcription that is unfortunately not real.
In the legit version of the interview, Nav said that he wished TMZ would notice him more often, which is meme-worthy in itself. Read the actual piece here.
