Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have taken the NBA's Eastern Conference by storm this year and have the best record in the NBA at 57-19. While the Greek Freak has been leading his team to victory night after night, the potential MVP candidate could be in trouble when it comes to his health. Last night, Antetokounmpo collided with Garrett Temple of the Los Angeles Clippers and went down favoring his ankle. Giannis left the game and never came back. While the injury may have looked bad, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Giannis explained it wasn't as bad as it looked.
"Usually when you sprain your ankle, you tweak your ankle, you stay out for two, three, four games," Antetokounmpo said according to ESPN. "But I don't like missing games, so I have to work through it while playing and try to get my strength with our practices."
The team thought about putting him back in the game but after noticing his limp, they thought better of it. Antetokounmpo was happy with the training staff's response and credits them with his sustained health.
"I think the coaching staff, Bud and the medical staff have done a great job knowing when to pull me away from a game," Antetokounmpo said. "I trust them. It doesn't matter if I am going through pain or I don't feel good. I am always prepared to play the game. There are going to be some days I am going to play with pain. There's going to be a lot of days I'm stubborn and saying I want to go play, but Coach Bud is like, 'No, you are not going to play.'"
The Bucks ended up winning the game by a score of 128-118.
