This week's FIRE EMOJI playlist gets the dragged to the fore by the boundless spirit of Rico Nasty. On Anger Management, released at the tail end of the week, the Maryland-born recluse-turned-extrovert rekindled her chemistry with Kenny Beats over 9 spellbinding tracks. Due to certain limitations, only of those songs made the cut this week: the Jay-Z-inspired "Hatin," a cheeky interpolating of the classic "Dirt Off Your Shoulders." It's not every day that we hear Rico Nasty fall under a melodic spell.
From there, the selection process became a little less malleable, but a few standouts like ScHoolboy Q and YG had ample room to push ahead. With respect to Q. this was invariably the week that he marked himself "available" after campaigning for weeks in enigmatic fashion. For his troubles, we've awarded him a rightful spot on our playlist, for CrasH Talk standout "5200." The Lil Baby-assisted "Water" also warranted our attention.
As for YG's submission to the playlist, "Stop Snitchin" is a whole other monster when paired up with the visuals - but for the sake of this exercise, make up your own mental imagery. We've all done it before. Rounding out the list this week were strong submissions from DJ Snake, Lil Peep (RIP), Jay Gwuapo, Vory, A$AP Rocky, Marshmello, Young Nudy, and FKA Twigs just to name a few.
