Despite being a number two seed in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets were always destined to have trouble with the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have always been a gritty team that knows how to push good teams to the brink of elimination. Down 3-2 in the series last night, the Spurs defeated the Nuggets 120-103 last night which forced a game seven. With 25 points, DeMar DeRozan led the Spurs to victory and with the final game of the series going in Denver, DeRozan wants to make sure his team can handle the raucous home crowd.
"[We have to play] like we approached it tonight," DeRozan told reporters according to Sporting News. "Eager, desperate, but under control, understanding what needs to be done, playing with smarts and it's fun. You gotta go out there and have fun. You can lean on experience, but we gotta come ready, mentally more than anything. It's going to be tough, we can't get caught up in the crowd, we gotta understand it's us versus them and everything is against us. Go out there, play free, play smart and just be ready."
The Spurs will have a chance to complete the upset on Saturday. As of right now, they're the only series going to seven games unless, of course, the Clippers defeat the Warriors tonight.
