Kap-G is edging into everyone's radar, with the recent release of his mixtape Like A Mexican helping him get that push. Kap-G's strong features, from Wiz Khalifa, Kirko Bangz and even Jeezy, helped give the mixtape that extra look. We even premiered the Pharrell-produced record "Cocaine Shawty" which featured Fabolous. So how exactly did Kap-G nab one of the hottest producers currently on the Billboard charts? It's all thanks to his A&R, the rapper tells us during an exclusive interview.
"My A&R KP, he connected me with Pharrell. As soon as we got in the studio we just made magic. You know the energy, everything was there. We made hits," Kap stated while talking to Jen DeLeon. "I was kinda nervous because I didn't know what I was gonna make, 'cause he makes a lot of hits. But as soon as we got in there it was all good. Cool dude. That's my big bro. Shout out Pharrell."
After listing his many collaborations, he contemplated who he'd want to work with on his next project. It sounds like he's pretty open, "On my next project...you know what I just really wanna work with whoever is working," he said. "But my favorite rapper is Kanye, so I'd love to work with him."
Kap also tells us about his work ethic and what he'd do if he wasn't in the music industry (he says the NBA). Check out the full interview below, and cop Like A Mexican here if you missed it when it dropped.
