Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley welcomed Lonzo Ball into the NBA back in 2017 by dogging him all over the court, just as Beverley promised he would.
During an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt on Wednesday night, Beverley proved that he still isn't impressed by the Lakers' second-year point guard. When asked what comes to mind when he hears 'Lonzo Ball,' Beverley quickly replied, "Easy."
Ball won't get a chance to make Pat Bev eat his words until next season. The 21-year old point guard suffered a grade 3 ankle sprain on January 19 and has not played since.
“I’m very, very motivated,” Ball told The Athletic. “I want to be the best I can be. I’m looking forward to this summer. I don’t look at it as added pressure, because I haven’t had a full summer yet to dedicate to myself. I have to keep working on my craft. I’m just happy that I’m going to be healthy.
“It’s been frustrating. This is the second year that this has happened. But I have to stay positive, stay motivated.”
The former UCLA star played in just 47 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 9.9 points, 5.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. To date, he has appeared in a total of 99 games in his first two seasons.
The Lakers (31-36) are currently seven games back of Beverley's eighth seeded Los Angeles Clippers with just 15 games remaining in the regular season.
