Magic says he'll be a Laker for life.

Tuesday night was one of the wildest days in recent memory when it came to NBA news. Dirk Nowitzki announced his retirement while Dwyane Wade dropped 30 points in his last ever home game with the Miami Heat. The biggest story of the night though came courtesy of Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson. Magic held an impromptu press conference before the game and announced that he would be stepping down from his role with the team. It was a pretty shocking announcement at the time considering Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss didn't even know about it.

On Wednesday morning, Johnson took to Twitter to offer his thanks to the Lakers organization.

"Thank you to Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, General Manager Rob Pelinka, Coach Luke Walton, the Lakers players & the entire basketball operations staff for the tremendous opportunity to serve as the President of Basketball Operations for the @Lakers," Magic wrote. "I will always be a Laker for life."

Making matters even more complicated last night, was the news that Magic had permission to fire the entire coaching staff, although he decided to quit before he could even get to it. This has left head coach Luke Walton's future up in the air.

It's never a dull moment out in Laker land.
