Walton's future is now up in the air as Magic stepped down.

It's been a mess of a year in Laker land. Despite the addition of LeBron James, the team won't be in the playoffs this year and there has been a ton of drama surrounding the team. The latest bit of drama comes from now former President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson. Last night, Johnson dropped a bombshell, announcing that he would be stepping away from the team. Just a few minutes later, ESPN's Adrain Wojnarowski took to Twitter to report that the entire coaching staff, including Luke Walton, would be fired just hours after the game.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports than reported early this morning that Magic actually had permission from Jeanie Buss to fire Walton much earlier. Now that Magic has stepped down though, Walton's future is up in the air as the entire coaching staff still have jobs as of right now.

As Wojnarowski reported, Walton still has two years left on his contract, although only next season is guaranteed. The Lakers have an option to pick up Walton in 2020-2021.

Walton can still be fired, of course, however, Magic's departure makes things a lot more complicated.

Needless to say, the Lakers are in complete disarray right now. It doesn't help that they lost their last game of the season 104-101.
