A few months ago, we got to see the trailer for Drake's new production Monsters and Men. The Canadian superstar was supposed to appear at the Toronto International Film Festival to speak about the movie but he ended up cancelling the event in September. We haven't heard much about the project but it has just been granted a limited release in cinema theaters in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Drake took to Twitter to let his fans know that they could check out Monsters and Men starting today. The film is presented as a partnership with Altitude Films, making its way into the European market today and onto select digital streaming platforms. The artist shared some of the great reviews that the film has gotten, quoting, "A powerhouse that couldn’t be more timely or necessary."
The film takes on the issue of police violence in North America, following the story of a man who witnesses an unarmed black man being shot in front of a bodega. The official synopsis reads, "When young father Manny witnesses the police shooting of an unarmed black man, the tight-knit community of Bed-Stuy is pushed to the brink in Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Sundance Award-winning portrait of race, family and consequence."
