Marshawn Lynch's rumored retirement plans might be put on hold for a bit, as the veteran running back is reportedly open to returning to the Oakland Raiders. According to NFL Network's Steve Wyche, Lynch is willing to play another season "if the Raiders want him."
News of Lynch's alleged desire to suit up for the silver and black comes just one week after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the 33-year old legend was planning to retire after two seasons with his hometown team.
Oakland also went out and drafted Alabama running back Josh Jacobs with the 24th overall pick, which seemingly solidified reports that Lynch's NFL days were over. Additionally, the Raiders are reportedly closing in on a deal with veteran running Doug Martin, who spent last season with the team.
Jerry McDonald, a beat writer for the Oakland Tribune, notes that the Raiders would welcome Lynch back "at a price," so long as he'd be OK with Jacobs being the workhorse. Lynch rushed for 376 yards and three touchdowns on 90 carries last season, but was placed on the injured reserve list in October after appearing in just six games.
The Raiders will open up the 2019-20 season at home on Monday night (September 9) against the division rival Denver Broncos.
