The performance was pre-recorded because the singer is currently on her world tour.

Ariana Grande was a double winner at Wednesday night's Billboard Music Awards after the "Thank U, Next" singer took home two awards: the Billboard Chart Achievement Award and Top Female Artist. The pop star also performed for the award show, but it wasn't quite what fans expected. The 25-year-old is currently on her "Sweetener World Tour," so she was unable to attend the show in Las Vegas.

The pre-recorded display featured Grande and dancers performing the singer's #1 hit "7 Rings." At the conclusion of the routine, one of her dancers made their way over to a graffiti-laced car that was placed center stage with the tag "BBMAs 2019." Grande wrapped up her performance in Vancouver, Canada, when she tweeted love to her fans and to Billboard.

"Happy @bbmas day everybody," she wrote. "So wish we were there with u in person tonight. thank you @billboard for all of your endless support, love and for having us perform for u remotely from the sweetener world tour."
