Last week Liam Neeson admitted that he wanted to kill a "black bastard" after his friend was raped. "I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could... kill him," he said.
After his comments sparked serious controversy, Liam followed up with an apology but that wasn't enough for movie makers such as Spike Lee who said he would not cast Liam for any upcoming projects. The She's Gotta Have It creator recently chatted with BBC and sounded off on Liam's comments.
"It's a crazy, bizarre world we live in,” Spike said. “I’ve not spoken to Liam. … I don’t know why he did it, but he did it, so…he's going through it now.” When asked if he would cast Liam in a movie now, Spike detailed how he once had Liam in mind for a film that didn't have enough of a budget and once it does get off the ground, he wouldn't consider Liam again.
“We haven’t got the money for that film, but one day we will,” he said. “But I don’t think I’ll be going back to him. He’s too old now. That was a long time ago. It’s bad all around.”
