Watts was lit on Wednesday night. Kendrick Lamar, Top Dawg, and the TDE crew came together for their fifth annual toy drive, and they brought Travis Scott along for the ride. Scott is currently in town for the Los Angeles leg of his "Wish You Were Here" tour, but he had more than enough time to bring some joy and Christmas spirit to those who attended the TDE event. The holiday toy drive went down at Nickerson Gardens, with free admission to those who donated unwrapped gifts.
Seeing as how the event went down in Watts, it was essential for Jay Rock to perform as well. Reason, SZA, and Rich the Kid also joined the list of talent that took to the stage. Kendrick and Trav hopped into a spirited performance of "Goosebumps," and La Flame also gave the audience the blessing of a "Sicko Mode" exhibition. "In cities like Watts, Compton, and South Central, a lot of these kids don’t get to leave their neighborhoods," TDE co-president Dave Free told MTV three years ago. "They don’t get to go to these shows. They don’t have the resources, money or opportunities to be in these environments, to be submerged in music, culture and different elements. To me, that’s an important thing.” Check out footage from the toy drive below.
