According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers' may be looking to move on from the Markelle Fultz' experiment, assuming they can find a trade partner at an equitable rate.
"Some sources have said that, despite the team’s statements, Fultz is no longer in the Sixers’ long-term plans. And they are no longer using his shoulder as an excuse for his performances," Pompey's report states.
To say Fultz has struggled since being drafted is a bit of an understatement. The Sixers' guard only suited up for 14 games in his rookie campaign under mysterious circumstances we later learned to be a shoulder injury. And let's not forget the videos that circulated all of last year displaying Fultz having altered his shooting mechanics. His transition to the pro game is reminiscent of America's Cold War obsession with Flying Saucers, except the subject is a highly-touted college dropout with an end in sight.
Fultz' shooting woes this season have undoubtedly lowered his value, to what extent, it's hard to say? In 19 games this season, Fultz is averaging 8.2 points and 3.1 assists.
Following Jimmy Butler's acquisition, the experiment of starting Fultz next to Ben Simmons in the backcourt has come to a premature end. In fact, Fultz has been ruled a DNP in the last contests while he awaits cat scan results for yet another mystery ailment.
