It's safe to say Ella Mai is one of R&B's most prized possessions right now. The British singer-songwriter blew up like no other with her track "Boo'd Up" and her most recent single "Trip" signifies her musical presence, assuring us she's going nowhere. According to Billboard, Ella has just made a music milestone since becoming the second woman to ever have a number one single for 15 weeks on the R&B/Hip-Hop airplay charts.
"Boo's Up" is sitting on the same pedestal as Mary J. Blige’s 2005 track “Be Without You.” Mary and Ella are the only two females to reach such chart success while Drake and his single "Hotline Bling" also ruled for 15 weeks in 2015-16. Miguel's “Adorn” beat out any guy on the charts when the song sat for 23 weeks on the charts in 2012-13.
Recently, Ella Mai was thought to have been the culprit who removed Jacquees's remix of her chart-topping song from all platforms since his "Quemixes" was reportedly gaining more traction than her original. DJ Mustard quickly responded shutting down the rumours and pulling Ella out from under the bus, saying: "Our artists don't send cease and desists, we do. When you monetize content you don't own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers."
