Atlanta Hawks rookie point guard Trae Young has been on an absolute tear as of late, and he seemed poised for yet another 30-point performance on Sunday before he was ejected for taunting Chicago Bulls guard Kris Dun.
As seen in the clip embedded below, Young was hit with his second technical foul during the third quarter, after he buried a three to give the Hawks a 78-62 lead.
After the victory, in which Young finished with 18 points and five assists, he posted the following on twitter: "I “try to” play with emotion, passion, effort, and a little bit of flair within the game of Basketball... that’s all I’ve ever tried to do, and that’s the only way I know how."
NBA Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Reggie Miller also vented on social media after Young's controversial ejection. Wondering what happened to his "beloved NBA," Miller described the current state of the league as "SOFT and SENSITIVE."
"What’s happened to my beloved NBA game? So damn SOFT and SENSITIVE now, nooooo way Trae Young should be given a technical for this.. I would have been broke and out of the league in 2 years.. #LetBallersBall."
Young, who has scored 30 or more points in four of his last six games including a 49-point effort against Chicago, is currently averaging 18.3 points and 7.8 assists per game. The Hawks, 22-42, will return to the court Monday night in Miami.
