Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald touches down in theaters in November, but Warner Bros. has decided to release the final trailer over a month in advance. With such a highly anticipated film, it appears that Warner is relying on the built-in Harry Potter audience to show out regardless. Still, the latest trailer is packed with new footage, and hints at the origins of Voldemort's favorite snake.
For those who may have forgotten, the final Horcrux that must be defeated in the last Potter movie was Nagini. The monstrous snake is essentially Voldemort's best friend, and it looks like we are getting some back history on her. Claudia Kim plays Maledictus, which is more of a title than a name. A Maledictus is someone with a blood curse who is forced to become an animal. Unlike an Animagus who can transform into any animal they initially chose, a Maledictus is under some form of curse. The most obvious course of action is that Kim gets stuck as a snake due to the curse, and then later becomes acquainted with Voldemort.
The new trailer also builds on Dumbledore's character, and it appears that his lust for Grindelwald will be explored to some degree. J.K. Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was gay, and that he and Grindelwald had some type of complex love story, years ago. In the trailer, Dumbledore looks into The Mirror of Erised and sees what he desires most, a young Grindelwald. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald hits theaters on November 18.
