The Lakers are in full effect this season. After acquiring Lebron James, Los Angeles is in high hopes that he'll lead them through a victorious season. Last night, The Lakers faced the Hornets, beating them 128-100. However, the game last night wasn't simply a win for the team. It marked a huge milestone for both Lebron James and Lonzo Ball after the two players earned themselves triple doubles within the same game.
Lebron James and Lonzo Ball made history as the first two Lakers teammates since 1982 to each finish the game with a triple-double. During last night's game against Charlotte, Lebron finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists before he sat out the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball earned himself 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists before leaving the court with 6:54 remaining on the clock.
Lebron James and Lonzo Ball are the first teammates in over 10 years to score each triple-doubles in the same game. Prior to them, Vince Carter and Jason Kidd reached this accomplishment in 2007 in the Nets Vs. Wizards game. However, Lebron and Lonzo also mark the first Lakers teammates to reach this impressive feat in roughly 36 years. Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were the last Lakers team-mates to reach this accomplishment in 1982. There are only eight duos in the NBA history to ever reach this accomplishment.
