Los Angeles Lakers' forward LeBron James is the favorite to win the 2018-19 NBA MVP Award with odds of 10/3, according to Bovada. LeBron is currently listed ahead of Anthony Davis (4/1), Giannis Antetokounmpo (9/2), and the reigning NBA MVP, James Harden (11/2).
Last season with the Cavaliers, his 15th year in the NBA, LeBron started all 82 games and averaged 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists while leading the Cavs to the NBA Finals once again. Those are certainly numbers worthy of the "most valuable" distinction, but LeBron finished second in the voting behind Harden, who received 86 of 101 first place votes.
If LeBron does take home MVP honors at season's end he'll tie Michael Jordan with five, trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who won the award an NBA-record six times.
As for the players listed behind LeBron, New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis is capable of dominating the game on both sides of the ball, which makes him a perfect MVP candidate heading into the 2018-19 campaign. Last season, The Brow averaged 28.1 points and 11.1 rebounds in addition to 2.6 blocks per game. He was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year and led the Pelicans to a first round sweep against the #3 seed Portland Trail Blazers.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee Bucks star Antetokounmpo posted career-highs in points and rebounds with 26.9 and 10, along with 4.8 assists per night. His numbers have improved each season since he entered the NBA in 2013 and if that trend continues he'll be in prime position to take home his first MVP award.
Other notable MVP odds include Kevin Durant at 9/1, the newest member of the Toronto Raptors, Kawhi Leonard (11/1), Steph Curry (15/1), and Kyrie Irving and Joel Embiid, both of whom are listed at 16/1, according to Bovada.
