As the NBA's official uniform manufacturer for the foreseeable future, Nike's partnership with the league will extend beyond the court to include collaborative projects with the Nike skateboarding line, more commonly known as Nike SB.
“Growing up in Southern California in the ’80s was what got me into basketball,” Nike SB skateboarder Eric Koston said in a statement. “I was getting deep into skateboarding in high school, but having the Showtime Lakers as my home team was so exciting to watch. They were at the peak of their championship wins, they had their rivalry with the Celtics — it was compelling, competitive, flashy basketball.”
The upcoming NBA x Nike SB collection will feature three different iconic silhouettes - the Blazer Low, Bruin and Dunk Low - as well as a co-branded satin jackets and hoodies. The collection will reportedly kickoff on October 13 with the release of an all-white Blazer Low, named for the Portland Trail Blazers. A monochromatic pink Nike SB Bruin is set to launch on December 1, followed by an NBA x Nike SB Dunk Low dressed in a royal blue satin.
Nike has not yet announced pricing information for the NBA x Nike SB collection, but we expect to learn more details in the near future as we approach the first release date in October.
