A dead body was reportedly found at the New Jersey home of New York Giants' Pro Bowl cornerback Janoris Jenkins on Tuesday morning. The victim has since been identified as 25-year-old Roosevelt Rene, a family friend of Jenkins, according to The Associated Press.
Police are reportedly investigating the death as a possible strangulation/suffocation incident, but no suspects have been named by authorities in the ongoing investigation at this time.
TMZ reports that the body was discovered in the basement by a worker at the house.
“The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fair Lawn Police Department are investigating a death at 14 Van Saun Place in Fair Lawn, New Jersey,” officials said in a statement, referencing Jenkins’ place of residence, according to the New York Post and other outlets.
“The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided when it is available and appropriate for release.”
According to TMZ, Jenkins was out of the state when the body was discovered early Tuesday morning, and has reportedly been in Florida since the end of camp.
