It was previously reported that a dead body had been found in the home of New York Giants' cornerback Janoris Jenkins while he was out of state. The body has since been identified as that of a close family friend, Roosevelt Rene. They had been living in Jenkins' home while he was away. the body had been discovered in the basement of the residence by a worker who maintained the house.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, responsible for the Fair Lawn, New Jersey Principality, has since found their man. Janoris Jenkins' own brother William Jenkins has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with Roosevelt's death. The office announced that William is already in custody, but will be presumed innocent until the investigation is finalized.
ESPN was told William Jenkins has been held in various containers while he awaits extradition to New Jersey. His brother Janoris was not at home when any of this went down, and is presumed to have spent the past two weeks in Florida, after New York Giants' minicamp. Team officials are aware of the incident, and are currently "monitoring the situation." Jenkins really came into his own as a player once he joined the New York Giants organization in 2016. He and his brother are natives of Pahokee, Florida, which explains his short interlude down south.
