A couple weeks ago, many of hip-hop’s biggest names made their way down to Miami, Florida for the taping of the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards Show, which is being hosted by comedian Deray Davis. Tonight (Oct. 16), we got to see what went down as the show was finally aired on television.
Thankfully, many of those big-named artist’s weren’t just there in attendance, but they also took their talents to the stage to perform some of the year’s biggest hits. Performer’s at this year’s event included Cardi B, Gucci Mane, A$AP Rocky, Gunna, Lil Baby, T.I., YG, Lil Pump, and many others.
Lil Pump kicked off the show with a lit performance of his single “Eskeetit,” before bringing out Gucci Mane to help perform their collab “Kept Back” as well as “Gucci Gang” remix. Then later, Gunna took the stage to perform his song "Yosemite," before him & Lil Baby went on to perform "Yes Indeed" & their breakout hit "Drip Too Hard," off their collab project Drip Harder. Elsewhere, we saw YG & A$AP Rocky perform their collab "Handgun," before T.I. performed "Wraith" & "Jefe" with Yo Gotti.
For the annual “I am hip-hop award”, this year's recipient was New Orleans rap legend Lil Wayne. In the late 90s & early 2000’s, Wayne played an integral role in the famed hip-hop group Hot Boys, before seguing into a successful solo career with Cash Money & Young Money of course.
