Last Friday night, many of hip-hop’s biggest names made their way down to Miami, Florida for the taping of the 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards Show, which was hosted by DJ Khaled. Tonight (Oct. 10), we got to see what went down as the show is finally being aired on television at the moment.
Thankfully, many of those big-named artist’s weren’t just there in attendance, but they also took their talents to the stage to perform some of the year’s biggest hits. Performer’s at this year’s event included a mix of old school & new school rappers with Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Migos, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Trina, Flo Rita, T-Pain, Playboi Carti & more.
DJ Khaled kicked off the show with a lit performance of his 2007 hit single “I'm So Hood,” bringing out special guest Trick Daddy, T-Pain, Rick Ross & Plies for their respective verses. Then, Migos came together on stage for a performance of “Scotty 2 Hotty."
Later, we saw Playboi Carti perform his hit records "WokeUpLikeThis" & "Magnolia," and Gucci Mane took over Club Liv to perform his hits "Curve" & "I Get The Bag."
In addition, Yo Gotti took the stage to perform his smash "Rake It Up," before Cardi B closed the evening out with a performance of her smash hit “Bodak Yellow."
For the annual “I am hip-hop award”, this year's recipient was Miami rap legend Uncle Luke. In the '80s, Luke played an integral role in the famed hip-hop group, 2 Live Crew, before seguing into a successful solo career. Luke's edgy and provocative lyrics earned him a place as the "Godfather of Southern Hip-Hop."
