Yasiin Bey says the leaked footage of him bashing Tekashi's "Gummo" video was taken out of context.

A couple days ago, AWGE released the third installment of their web docuseries AWGE DVD, chronicling behind the scenes moments with A$AP Rocky, the A$AP Mob and AWGE-affiliated artists and friends. At one particular point of the video, around the 15 minute mark, there was some footage of Yasiin Bey talking pretty wildly about NYC newcomer Tekashi 6ix9ine, saying Tekashi’s “Gummo” video was some of the most depressing shit he's ever seen.

"Why is everyone acting like this new? This is a version of the same old shit. This is the most depressing shit I've ever seen in my life," Yasiin Bey said in the clip. However it turns out that clip was taken out of context and not necessarily what Yasiin meant.

On late Thursday night, AWGE and Yasiin released a statement explaining that the footage was “leaked” and “taken out of context.” Their statement read:

“Unbeknownst to Yasiin Bey and the AWGE team, an unapproved version of AWGE DVD Vol. 3 was leaked and included a clip of Yasiin Bey that was taken out of context and edited in a way that does not accurately depict him or his opinions. The leaked clip was not included in the final released version of Vol 3 from AWGE and does not reflect Yasiin Bey's feelings on Tekashi 6ix9ine, his work or otherwise. No further comment will be made at this time.”

The statement ended with… “STOP CLOUT WARS.LOVE ALL.TRUST FEW.FEAR NONE.PEACE.”
