Common has been building his acting resume quietly for the last few years. The rapper turned actor starred in several high profile roles throughout the mid 00's before taking a smaller approach to films. He's played a pivotal role in John Wick 2 and has been featured on The Chi. Now, Common is stepping back into the spotlight as one of the main stars in the upcoming film Hunter Killer.
Adapted from the 2012 novel Firing Point by Don Keith & George Wallace, Hunter Killer follows a team of Navy SEALs that must venture into enemy waters to rescue the Russian president. Of course, the team is met with twists and must trust an unlikely ally to get the job done. A new trailer for the film was recently released, and it appears to be an action-packed thriller. Hunter Killer stars Common, Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Toby Stephens, and Linda Cardellini. With the current political climate between America and Russia reaching critical levels, it will be interesting to see how well Hunter Killer does at the box office. The ensemble cast will likely draw a decent crowd. Hunter Killer is directed by Donovan Marsh and produced by Neal Moritz. It is set to hit theaters on October 26.
