Lionsgate taps Common for the future of television.

Common has always swerved in the acting lane since making it big as a rapper. He's starred in Barber Shop, Suicide Squad and more recently Girls Trip. So it should come as no surprise that "The Food" artist has signed a deal with Lionsgate TV to create and produce projects for the company.

Common is familiar with the studio since acting in John Wick and Now You See Me. “I’m proud to expand my relationship with the innovative content creator Lionsgate,” Common said, according to Billboard. “The studio offers a collaborative, creative freedom that is unique in the entertainment industry, which makes them a perfect partner for Freedom Road Productions. I’m looking forward to teaming up with Kevin [Beggs, Lionsgate TV Group chairman], Chris and the Lionsgate collective on exciting and fresh television programming.”

One of Common's upcoming roles sees him in Hunter Killer that follows a team of Navy SEALs that must venture into enemy waters to rescue the Russian president - check out the trailer below.
