Jon Favreau is set to bring Disney and Star Wars' first live-action series to life. The Mandalorian will focus on a lone bounty hunter that is keeping out of the reach of the New Republic that was set up after the events in Return of the Jedi. The show will take place before The Force Awakens though, allowing for several heroes (including Luke Skywalker and Han Solo) to possibly be guest stars on the series. The Mandalorian will stream on Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+.
As reported by Variety, Pedro Pascal has been cast as the main character for the series. Pascal is best known for playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones (until his head gets popped off in trial by combat) and Javier Peña in the Netflix series Narcos. The actors' name was on the short list of entertainers being reviewed for the role, and now that the offer has been made, contract negotiations are taking place.
Disney also revealed that Diego Luna's character from Rogue One will be getting his own spin-off series as well. Since his character died at the end of the movie, we can only assume it will be a prequel that will take place around the time of Revenge of the Sith.
