"I know what it's like to slip. I know what it's like to relapse."

Macklemore hit the stage in Boston, Massachusetts last night at the Xfinity Center and dedicated one of his most personal tracks, "Otherside" to his friend Demi Lovato who is currently recovering from a drug overdose. The song is about his own battled with addiction and after his performance, he shared a special message to his audience.

"I do that song because if it wasn't for my sobriety and my recovery, I wouldn't be on this stage tonight," he said. "And, I just want to send prayers and my thoughts and love out to Demi Lovato. I heard about that and when we have this disease of addiction that ties us, addicts, together. And, that's my sister in recovery. I know what it's like to slip. I know what it's like to relapse."

At the age of 25, Macklemore checked himself into rehab for alcohol and opioid addiction and has been open about his past in music ever since.

The latest updates on Demi are that she's conscious and surrounded by family and friends in the hospital. Reports of her overdosing on heroin were shut down with reports suggesting it was methamphetamine
