LeVert will not need surgery, expected to make full recovery this season.

Caris LeVert is expected to return to the Brooklyn Nets this season, despite suffering a horrific foot injury in last night's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yes, you read that right.

According to the Nets' medical update, LeVert was diagnosed with a subtalar dislocation of the right foot with no fractures and moderate ligament damage. What that means is he will not require surgery and that all bodes well for him making a return to the lineup at some point later this season.

The Nets' team orthopedist Dr. Martin O'Malley released the following update today on LeVert's status:

"While the optics of this injury may have appeared to be more severe, surgery will not be required. Caris will begin a period of rehabilitation with the Nets' performance staff, following which he is expected to return to full strength and resume all basketball activities without any limitations this season."

LeVert, 24, came down hard on his right leg after making contact with Jeff Teague on an attempted chase-down block and the game came to an abrupt halt. Trainers quickly rushed to LeVert and stabilized his leg before placing him on a stretcher. A number of NBA stars including Paul George, who knows the recovery process all to well, reached out to show support in wake of the injury. You can check out some of their encouraging words here.

Heading into Monday's game in Minnesota, LeVert was averaging 19 points, 3.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. The Nets, 6-8, will host the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
