Rumors have been swirling for years now regarding the casting of Idris Elba as James Bond. It's hard to pinpoint exactly where and when the rumors began to circulate, but when the current Bond openly admitted that he wasn't very fond of the role anymore, the rumors escalated. Daniel Craig has played James Bond for four films now, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. He will return for one more James Bond film, the tentatively titled James Bond 25, before retiring. Craig once revealed that he'd, "rather break this glass and slash my wrists," then think about playing Bond again. "I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on," he said.
Idris Elba was doing the red carpet walk (or yellow carpet, for this event) with fiancée Sabrina Dhowre for his directorial debut film Yardie on Tuesday. An overenthusiastic Good Morning Britain reporter approached Elba with a martini and asked him, "shaken or stirred," which was an obvious nod to James Bond. Elba appeared immediately irritated with the gesture, but kept his composure for the question he knew was coming next. "Stir-fried actually, thank you," stated Elba as he began to walk away from the reporter. When asked if he was the next 007, Elba laughed and simply answered, "No."
