Renowned singer Mary J. Blige is adding another movie to her resume after previously being nominated two times for an Oscar for her role in Mudbound. According to Deadline, Mary has signed on to join the horror thriller film Body Cam that is being helmed by Malik Vitthal (Imperial Dreams.)
The movie follows a group of LAPD cops who are haunted by the spirit of a young Black child who they killed. The evidence of the killing is on their body cameras but the footage was destroyed as a way to cover up their involvement. Mary will play an officer who can't stop getting visions and decides to follow her instinct to solve the case. This film will be the first time Mary plays as lead and considering her past success she's sure to take this one home and surely get nominated for even more awards.
According to Billboard, the film has been described as "a tonal blend of Get Out and End of Watch." There's been no word on when the film is set to be released or any other stars that are expected to join on. The movie's summary coincides with the sad real-life happenings of Black men and youth getting killed at the hands of police. Just yesterday we posted about Antwon Rose who was killed in Pittsburg after running away from police unarmed.
