The hottest stars in music were out in NYC Monday night for the annual MTV Video Music Awards taking place at Radio City Music Hall. Arguably the second biggest night of the year in music, following the Grammy’s, the VMA’s will celebrate the year’s biggest & most accomplished work in music, with Cardi B leading all nominees with ten nominations and the Carters (Jay & Beyonce) follow with eight nods for their work.
However the best part of the night is always typically the live performances, and this year’s was no different. Logic & Ryan Tedder teamed up to perform their powerful new single “One Day,” before Nicki Minaj took the stage to perform a medley of new hits from the World Trade Center subway station in New York City. Nicki went on to perform her Eminem collaboration “Majesty” before delivering “Barbie Dreams” as fans sang along to every word. She even spit an acapella verse from “Ganja Burn,” and lastly closed things out with her 6ix9ine collaboration “FEFE,” which was a surprise.
After Nicki, Travis Scott then took the stage for what DJ Khaled said was arguably one of the biggest performances ever on VMA’s. LaFlame performed a couple cuts from his #1 album Astroworld, including “Stargazing,” "Stop Trying To Be God," and “Sicko Mode” with some help from James Blake.
Lastly, Post Malone added his rockstar flavor and closed the night off with a special performances with 21 Savage and Aerosmith. Started with a performance of “Rockstar," Posty grabbed a guitar and ended the night playing alongside Aerosmith as they rocked out to their hit record "Dream On" & "Toys In The Attic."
