Anthony Davis sat down with ESPN's Rachel Nichols to discuss the Pelicans' upcoming NBA campaign, and he sure did his appointment justice. The Pelicans' forward thinks his time is now. The ESPN host asked him to explain what differentiates his game from say.. Kevin Durant and LeBron James, among others. He replied by building a case for his two-way effectiveness. AD sees himself as a perennial MVP and Defensive Player of the Year candidate, and for that reason and that reason alone, he honestly believes he is the best player in the NBA. Despite a lack of team success, he does boast the numbers to support his case.
Last month, Anthony Davis created a bit of a stir, when he switched agents to join Klutch Sports, the firm that represents LeBron James, most notably. The move to seek different representation prompted many on the outside to speculate on AD's willingness to leave New Orleans for another "project" on the NBA radar, possibly in Los Angeles Lakers with LeBron.
As of this writing, Anthony Davis ranks 2nd below LeBron James as the odds-on favorite to win the 2018-2019 NBA MVP trophy. Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, and Toronto Raptors' newbie Kawhi Leonard round out the Top 5.
