Since returning to Twitter earlier this month, Kanye West has certainly been at the forefront of the conversation in hip hop, but it hasn't all been positive vibes that people have been sending his way. Much like his affinity for Trump and like-minded political pundits like Candace Owens and Scott Adams has divided fans, so have his new songs (though the consequences of the latter are far less worrying). At the end of the day, we're still talking about them though, so it's no surprise that both new tracks top our chart and respective list.
Along with Kanye, Post Malone, whose long-awaited Beerbongs & Bentleys arrived last week, also notches two entries in the top ten this week. New tracks barely missing out on spots this week include Chris Webby's "Raw Thoughts III" (#13), Lil Baby's "Never Needed Help" (#14), Chief Keef and Tadoe's "Lien" (#15), and Rich The Kid and Blac Youngsta's "Who Run It" remix (#16).
10. 24hrs Feat. Wale - Boomerang
Soon after releasing his project 3200 Lenox RD, 24hrs was back with a new one last week. "Boomerang" features Wale, has since been taken down, and it debuts at #10.
9. Tee Grizzley Feat. Lil Yachty - 2 Vaults
Despite arriving to rap stardom via very different routes, Detroit's Tee Grizzley and Atlanta's Lil Yachty seem to have become fast friends, as this is their second collab, following "From the D to the A." This one, "2 Vaults," debuts at #9.
8. Post Malone Feat. Swae Lee - Spoil My Night
If Beerbongs & Bentleys even equals half the success of Post's debut, Stoney, which has basically remained in the top ten of the Billboard 100 since its release, it'll be huge for him. One of the early bets at a hit single is the Swae Lee collab "Spoil My Night," which debuts at #8.
7. Stargate Feat. 21 Savage, PartyNextDoor & Murda Beatz - 1Night
Two Norwegian pop superproducers, Atlanta trapper, Toronto crooner, and white Canadian trap producer is an unlikely pairing if there's ever been one, but somehow, this track works. "1Night," which counts production duo Stargate as its lead artist, debuts at #7.
6. J. Cole - 1985
One of two holdovers from last week's top ten, the closing track on J. Cole's KOD is here, yet again, because of lyrics directed at Lil Pump (if you don't think diss songs are more likely to attract views than other tracks, remember that Chris Webby hit #13 this week for his Lil Xan diss). In its second week out, "1985" slides down four places from #2 to #6.
5. Post Malone Feat. Nicki Minaj - Ball For Me
Arguably the biggest collab on Beerbongs & Bentleys, "Ball For Me" pairs Post with Nicki, who's having herself quite the month in the wake of two new singles. "Ball For Me" debuts at #5.
4. Russ - Sore Losers
While the reigning king of controversy sits at #1 and #2 this week, the prince is at #4. Russ has been outspoken about how lame he thinks rap is, and yet he still raps. "Sore Losers" got a lot of clicks, debuting at #4, but only got a 57% audience rating.
3. A$AP Rocky - Herojuana Blunts
Rocky dropped this banger back on 4/20, but it's continued to pick up steam in the weeks following the holiday. In its second week out, "Herojuana Blunts" is up one place from #4 to #3.
2. Kanye West Feat. T.I. - Ye Vs. The People
In a "gotta hear both sides" attempt to spread his seemingly incongruous message of love and Trump support, Kanye dropped this track "starring T.I. as The People." This point-counterpoint salvo fared better than the other 'Ye track this week with an 83% user rating, but it charted below, debuting at #2.
1. Kanye West - Lift Yourself
Ah yes, the legendary "Scoopity Poopity" joint. "Lift Yourself" is only available to stream on Ye's site, but it still debuted at #1 here. Despite that, it's only got 56% user approval.
