Kevin Feige is witnessing the latest Marvel film Avengers: Infinity War surpass Star Wars: The Force Awakens to claim the highest-grossing theatrical debut of all time. This increased fanfare has also lead to a bevy of rumours forecasting what surprises the studio has in store for their upcoming roster of releases. Many are beginning to speculate that the sequel to 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming will introduce an integral female character into the MCU.
In a new interview, Feige shuts down a possibility of Black Cat making an appearance in the forthcoming production after a Marvel casting search revealed the studio was on the look-out for a femme fatale character. "No, that was, uh, that, that was a misleading minor casting search. None of those rumors are true at all."
Sources are also suggesting that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 may also debut Gwen Stacey, Peter Parker's first romantic interest, a possibility that Feige did not denounce or support.
However, the man behind the Marvel monolith does reveal that the project will begin shooting in July. "We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there's another reason we're shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he'll spend some time in other parts of the globe," revealing the film to be an international affair.
